I live in Rome, the capital city of Italy since 1973. I am the first man came to Italy with Bangladeshi Passport. I am the oldest person among others who live in Italy from Bangladesh. I am a freedom fighter, I fought on 9 no. sector in the liberation war. I took government service on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1972 on the Freedom Fighter Quota and came to Rome on 17 September, 1973 to open the Embassy of Bangladesh in Ital. After the killing of Bangabondhu in 1975, I did not performed on the government service. On 21 February, 1977, I established the first association of Bangladeshis called “Bangladesh Cultural Association Italy”. There is further mentioned that, present actual name of the Bangladesh Association is Bangladesh Cultural Association. I have written the constitution of many associations including Bangladesh Cultural Association in Italy. I was the Election Commissioner and Adviser in several times of Bangladesh Association. Currently due to misunderstanding and other reason, I am out of the responsibility or post of the Bangladesh Society. In 1993, I was participated on the Rome City Hall on the Commissioner post as the first foreign Italian. Where only Italians cast their votes. To show the culture of Bangladesh, I have published a newspaper named “Romer Somoy” in 1995 from Rome, the heart point of civilization. That means “Romer Somoy” is the first registered Bangla newspaper. By thuis “Romer Somoy” the journalism started in Italy first. I always support to freedom of speech and its only way is news paper. So I am involving on the “Bangla Press Club Italy” from the beginning and currently I am the chief adviser of this association. I believe many members of the Bangla Press Club, Italy are got fame publishing true and actual news in Italy. Thanks

আমি ১৯৭৩ সাল থেকে ইতালীর রাজধানী রোমে বসবাস করছি। আমিই প্রথম বাংলাদেশী পাসর্পোট নিয়ে ইতালীতে আসি। ইতালীতে অবস্থানকারীদের মধ্যে আমিই বর্তমানে প্রবীণ। আমি একজন মুক্তিযোদ্ধা, ৯নং সেক্টর থেকে মুক্তি যুদ্ধ করেছি। আমি সাবেক ঋড়ৎবরমহ ঝবৎারপব মুক্তিযোদ্ধার কোঠায় ১৯৭২ সালে ঢাকায় পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রনালয় চাকুরি জীবন শুরু করি এবং ১৯৭৩ সালের ১৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ইতালীতে বাংলাদেশ দুতাবাস খুলতে রোমে আসি। ১৯৭৫ সালে বঙ্গবন্ধু হত্যার পর থেকে আর দুতাবাস চাকুরি করিনি। ১৯৭৭ সালের ২১ ফেব্রুয়ারী ইতালীতে বাংলাদেশীদের প্রথম সংগঠন “বাংলাদেশ সাংকৃতিক সমিতি ইতালী” গঠন করি। উল্লেখ্য যে, বর্তমান বাংলাদেশ সমিতির আসল নাম বাংলাদেশ সাংস্কৃতিক সমিতি। ইতালীতে বাংলাদেশ সমিতির গঠনতন্ত্রসহ অনেক সমিতির গঠনতন্ত্র আমার হাতে লেখা। আমি কয়েকবার বাংলাদেশ সমিতির নির্বাচন কমিশনার ও উপদেষ্টা ছিলাম। বর্তমানে সংগঠনের দ্বিধা বিভক্তিসহ নানা কারনে সমিতির কোন পদ বা দায়িত্বে আমি নেইনি। আমি ১৯৯৩ সালে রোম সিটি হলের কমিশনার পদে নির্বাচন করেছি একজন প্রথম বিদেশী ইতালীয়ান হিসাবে। যেখানে শুধু ইতালীয়ান নাগরিকরা ভোট দিয়েছিল। আমি বাংলাদেশের কৃষ্টি, কালচার সভ্যতার প্রানকেন্দ্র রোমে তুলে ধরার লক্ষ্যে ১৯৯৫ সালে “রোমের সময়” পত্রিকার প্রকাশনা শুরু করি। তথা “রোমের সময়” ই ইতালীতে বাংলা ভাষার প্রথম পত্রিকা হিসাবে রেজিস্টেশন করা। রোমের সময় পত্রিকার মাধ্যমেই ইতালীতে সাংবাদিকরা হাতে খড়ি বলতে পারে। আমি সব সময়ই মুক্তভাবে ভাব প্রকাশের পক্ষে আর তার একমাত্র উপায় হলো সংবাদ মাধ্যম। তাই অতি আগ্রহের সাথে রোমে “বাংলা প্রেস ক্লাব, ইতালী” এর জন্ম লগ্ন থেকেই জড়িত রয়েছি এবং বর্তমানে সংগঠনটির প্রধান উপদেষ্টার দায়িত্ব পালন করছি। আমি মনেকরি বাংলা প্রেস ক্লাব, ইতালির সদস্যদের অনেকে ইতালীতে বস্তনিষ্ঠ সংবাদ প্রচার করে বেশ সুনাম অর্জন করেছে আর এজন্য আমি মুগ্ধ । বাংলা প্রেস ক্লাব ইতালীকে ধন্যবাদ। সেই সাথে ধন্যবাদ জানাই ইতালিতে প্রথম কোন সাংবাদিক সংগঠন রেজিস্ট্রেশন করার জন্য বাংলা প্রেস ক্লাব ইতালীর সকল সদস্যদের।
ইতিহাস খ্যাত এই নগরীতে প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিরা একদিন মিডিয়া জগতে আরো বেশি সুনাম করবে এবং মূল ধারার ইতালিয়ান মিডিয়ায় কাজ করার সুযোগ করে নিবে। আগামী প্রজন্মের কাছে এটাই আমার প্রত্যাশা।
